From Quebec
to The World - First USA Tour!
Rosheen is one of those amazing
“discoveries” –a Celtic band out of Quebec that is not yet known
internationally, but after hearing their sound, you wonder,
why not?! We were knocked out first by the music clips on
their site and then when we heard their CD “Musique Celtique,”
it only confirmed that they should be household name among fans
of Celtic Music! For that reason the Celtic Music Association
and The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick are pleased to bring this
group to Des Moines during their first tour of the United
States. So don’t miss out on being one of the first to hear
them live. They will be performing on Saturday March 5, 2005
8:00pm at Holy Trinity Parish Hall located at 2926 Beaver
Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa. The Celtic Music Association has
been proudly been sponsoring and promoting Celtic music and
cultural events in Des Moines for the past twelve years.

About ROSHEEN
Founded in 1997 by
singer-songwriter Lynn Vallières, the folk group
Rosheen now boasts seven members, all blessed with a
passion for Celtic music. Rosheen has performed
all across Québec, and two years ago made a great impression at
the Montreal International Celtic Music Festival.
Appearances at other events, such as Le Festival
Nouvelle-France in Québec City, have helped spread their
reputation across the region. Rosheen has also
performed on prestigious stages such as Place D’Youville
and Parc Rolland-Beaudin in Ste-Foy where they were
welcomed by a warm and enthusiastic audience. What is most
remarkable about Rosheen, a Quebec based group, is
that they perform the traditional music of Ireland with such
authenticity.
In February of 2004 CBC-Radio
broadcasted a live performance by Rosheen from
the Capitole de Québec, one of the city’s most respected
performance venues. The two hours show was heard from coast to
coast on the French network and was rebroadcast the next day on
CBC’s English counterpart. Rosheen and their
guests, Paris to Kiev, thrilled a full house of 1,200
seats as well as thousands of radio listeners. Irish Dancing
Magazine (Ireland) and Keltika (Italy) have given
high praise to Rosheen for their music. The group
can already be heard on the air in North America and Europe, and
with booking and management deals having just taken place in
Canada and America, more focus is being planned for radio.
Rosheen, the group also performs original
works by different band members, giving their self-titled CD a
particularly original flavor. Jigs, reels and hellish polkas are
intertwined with haunting ballads, affording Rosheen
a great diversity both as a recording act, and in particular,
when performing live in concert.
In addition to the crystal voice
of Lynn Vallières (recorder and bodhran), six seasoned and
versatile musicians make up the band; Michel Hénault
(guitar, arranger-composer and writer), multi-instrumentalist
Grégoire Painchaud (keyboard, piano, violin, mandolin and
arranger-composer), Kattialine Painchaud (violin and
harp), François Matte (wooden flute, tin whistle),
François Guilbault (double bass and bass) and last but not
least Christian Paré (percussion and drums).

Rambles, cultural arts magazine
Rosheen has a light and lively sound that
splendidly carries a true Celtic experience. I expected a sound
similar to Grand Derangement, an Arcadian band from Nova Scotia,
but this group has its own style. I don’t think you could go
wrong by listening to them and following these musicians into
the faery realm of Irish soul.
ID SPECIAL
This is splendid stuff! Jigs, reels and
polkas, with the finest instrumentation on fiddle, flute
bouzouki, bodhran and the rest. But, what is really amazing is
the band is composed of seven French Canadians with not a
Seamus, O’Connor, nor the least hint of Irishness anywhere to be
found!…This international CD is exceptional and shows just how
cleaver and sensitive musicians from any land can be, adapting
and singing to someone else’s tune.

Real Good Music
Rosheen brings an entirely new approach to
the game. With roots in strong Irish traditional music, and
both traditional music and original composition, the mix in the
French flavors of Quebec and an original “Rosheen” attitude
toward performance… Lynn Vallieres has a voice that has so much
strength, depth, and feeling in it, that she just draws you in.
