Dervish

It's two hours before curtain time.  Both Dervish and Tapestry have arrived at the Val Air Ballroom.  There's excitement in the air and the power goes out.  So what else is there to do but grab a cell phone, call out for pizza, and pray.  Luckily the Lord kept a closer eye on us than did the pizza maker.  After 15 minutes we had power again and proceeded with the sound check.

Des Moines own Tapestry kicked off the show and played wonderfully to a very "geared up" audience.  The CMA is truly thankful for their artistic contribution that evening.

After a quick intermission Dervish entered the stage.  The six person band from Sligo opened with a couple of breathtaking jigs that fueled the audience's appetite for excitement.

Cathy, Brian, Shane, Laim, Michael and Shane (yes there are two Shanes), showed us their amazing talent and drive that night by playing extraordinarily tight even though a few members of the audience were a bit obstreperous (politely put ...loud).

Cathy Jordan sang warm and strong throughout the evening and ended the concert when she sang a stirring a cappella version of "Edward by Lough Erin's Shore".
